Master Ottarious Ishanalgroth

Species: Gorith Homeworl 80 BBY | Homeworld: Gorithia | Status: Presumed Deceased (19 BBY)

Jedi Master Ottarious Ishanalgroth was among the rare few of his reclusive species to venture beyond the oceanic world of Gorithia, a planet shrouded in mystery at the edge of the Unknown Regions. Born in 66 BBY to a pair of Gorithian scientists, Ottarious’s early life was marked by tragedy. During a deep-space expedition, his parents' research vessel was ambushed by Outer Rim pirates. The crew was slaughtered, and Ottarious, then only a hatchling, was left adrift in the wreckage. Rescued by a Jedi patrol responding to a distress beacon, he was taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. His only sibling, a twin brother, was never found—presumed lost to the void or claimed by the attackers.

Despite his traumatic beginnings and the cultural isolationism of his people, Ottarious demonstrated an early attunement to the Force. The Jedi Council, initially cautious, eventually accepted him into training, recognizing the rare perspective and insight he brought. His species’ heightened awareness of natural flows and energetic currents made him an exceptional student of the Living Force. Over time, he became a wise and contemplative Master known for his serene presence and his deep, almost meditative connection with aquatic and avian lifeforms.

Ottarious's greatest contribution to the Jedi Order came with the training of Petrus Metris, born 42 BBY—the only other Gorith known to have joined the Jedi. The Council entrusted Petrus to Ottarious not only for his mastery of the Force but for his profound understanding of Gorithian biology, psychology, and spiritual customs. Together, Master and Padawan exemplified the ideal Jedi bond—measured discipline paired with mutual understanding. They were often deployed to frontier worlds and conflict zones where diplomacy and spiritual insight were as crucial as combat prowess.

During the final days of the Clone Wars, Master Ottarious and Petrus were stationed on the remote Outer Rim world of T’lakaris IV, investigating Separatist bio-weapons experiments. It was there, according to fragmented reports, that Order 66 was executed. Neither were ever seen again. Their fates remain unconfirmed, and while many believe they perished in the purge, whispers persist in the Unknown Regions—of a Gorithian elder and his student seen aiding lost refugees among the stars.
