Strongarm is the name of one of the Autobot Omnicons. He transformers into a Cybertronian truck and wields an energon axe.[1]

Animated series[]

Omnicons

Strongarm and Skyblast

While Omnicons were formerly Autobots and Decepticons, these two sides set aside their differences and left Cybertron with Team Rodimus. The Omnicons eventually began working together to mine energon, the energy-rich mineral needed to power Transformers and their technology. Invaluable to the Transformers because of their unique ability to handle, shape and process raw energon, which is damaging to normal Transformers, the Omnicons created the Cybertron cities as only they can. There are three distinct body types shared among the Omnicon ranks, but unlike the Terrorcons, each Omnicon possesses an individual mind of his own.

Dreamwave Productions[]

In the Transformers: Energon comics the Omnicons had a very different origin. Just as the Energon comic Terrorcons were singular individuals, the Omnicons are four young Autobots who were trained by the Mini-Con Over-Run. They are described as the next stage of Transformer evolution. Unlike the animated series, there were only ever the four Omnicons. Their first major appearance was in Energon #25 where they had been sent to Earth by Optimus Prime. Unfortunately their inexperience antagonized relations with the Earth governments, forcing Prime to send them to Hot Shot for training. He had little success, as the only command they obeyed was his frustrated "get lost!" They did in the Canadian wilderness, and were promptly ambushed and taken prisoner by Snow Cat, hoping to take advantage of their energon manipulation for Scorponok. Only by learning to work together as a team did they escape and eventually defeat Snow Cat.

They subsequently appeared locating an underwater energon source with Kicker, but were attacked by Mirage, Sharkticon and Slugslinger, with the Omnicons being taken out. Kicker managed to recharge them enough to drive off their foes.

Dreamwave's closure prevented any other tales being told of the Omnicons, but it is known that issue 33 would have had them battling an even more dangerous foe - Starscream, reborn as an energon phantom.

Toys[]

  • Energon Basic Strongarm (2004)
This toy was later recolored into Timelines Fallback. There were plans to remold this toy into Universe Brawn and Roadbuster, but these figures were never released.[2]
A Chinese made knockoff of this toy was released in 2008. It was slightly similified and recolored to be part of a combiner set called Super Change to United.[3]
  • Energon Basic Energon Strongarm (2004)
A redeco of Energon Strongarm.
  • Universe Basic Stong Arm
A repackage of Energon Energon Strongarm. Oddly his package uses a space in his name, although the Hasbro web site still lists him without the space.[4]

Strongarm is an Autobot Mini-Con. Young and brave, these robots are fresh out of primary programming, and too inexperienced to ever be afraid. When there are other robots in danger, and nothing will save them but a foolish charge into the dangerous and unknown, its always the Night Rescue Team that gets called in.

He had a biography printed in issue #17 of the Transformers Collectors Club magazine. According to this biography he is a Jack of all trades, and loves to learn new skills.[6]

Fun Publications[]

Strongarm's first appearance in fiction is as a Mini-Con on Cybertron in the text story The New World. He investigates the explosion that killed Modus Prime. He later sides with the Autobot-allied Mini-Cons against Broadside's attempt to take control of Cybertron.[7]

After the Autobot's return to Cybertron Strongarm joined the crew of Grimlock's Autobot ship Graviton, whose mission it was to track down Bludgeon and his Decepticons. In Transformers: Timelines volume 2 #2, "Games of Deception", Ultra Magnus leads a force including Elita One, Springer, Huffer, Snarl, Stongarm and Tyrannitron after the Decepticon Bug Bite and his forces to Earth.

Toys[]

  • Classics Mini-Con Strongarm (2007)

This figure was redecoed as the Takara exclusive Mini-Cons Rad Rogue and Detectus as well as the Universe Mini-Con Overcharge.

Strongarm is one of the many Scout-class toy redecos released in the 2007 movie toy line.

Strongarm would rather be working on machines than fighting. Generally good-natured and light-hearted, Strongarm's gift for mechanics and electrical systems make him an invaluable asset for the Autobots, constantly fixing broken or faulty weapons systems

According to the biography printed in the collected Reign of Starscream books Strongarm bears damage to his face from a Deceptcion attack which killed the rest of his group. He refuses to repair it as a reminder of what happened.

IDW Publishing[]

Strongarm is among the Autobot forces who witness the launching of the Decepticon ship Nemesis.[8]

In Transformers: Reign of Starscream #4 Arcee returned to Cybertron from Mars by hiding in the landing gear of Starscream's ship. Once on the planet she was discovered by a Dreadwing and Payload drone, who she deactivated. Returning to an Autobot training facility she discovered Clocker, who took her to Crosshairs who was planning an attack to free the Autobots at Simfur, which they attempted with the aid of Wingblade, Skyblast, Breakaway and Strongarm.

Titan Magazines[]

Note: Information in italics occure in the alternate storyline where Megatron won the battle for the Allspark.

Strongarm appeared in issue #5 of the Titan Transformers magazine. As a recruit, Strongarm underwent training missions with Ironhide - said training being "attack that heavily armed Decepticon base!". He did a flanking run to draw enemy fire.

In "Twilight's Last Gleaming" part 1 Skyblast lead the Autobots Arcee, Armorhide, Elita One, Longarm and Strongarm who in resisting the Decepticons who had conquored Earth. In part 3 Starscream and Scorponok attack the Autobots Arcee, Armorhide, Elita One, Longarm, Skyblast and Strongarm on the moon. The Autobots flee to Earth, which is exactly what Starscream hoped they'd do. In part 4 Mikaela frees Optimus Prime and freezes Frenzy just as Bumblebee gets some unexpected help fighting Megatron by the arrival of Elita One, Skyblast and Strongarm. Note: In this story Strongarm resembles his toy in robot mode, but assumes a Cybertronian "protoform entry mode" for his vehicle mode.

Strongarm would return in issue #22 of the Titan Transformers Magazine series in a story called "The Decepticon who Haunted Himself."
